The mission project we are calling

“It Only Takes a Spark” began last year

2010 when Bronwen Pope returned from a

missional visit and reported the great

need for dresses for the girls and shorts

for the boys living at the Three Angels Orphanage.

This “sparked” the idea from one of our

ladies experienced in sewing and one

associated with a great group of other

ladies, to make pillow case dresses for the girls and

shorts for the boys.

Our average attendance is under one hundred we

are classified as a small member church.

However, our passion and understanding

of the call of discipleship to Christ is way larger.

Little did we realize that this “spark” would

have the far reaching effects from all over

the U.S.A. A small article was written up in

our local news paper and then it started to

spread. United Methodist News service picked

it up and the others. Phone calls and e-mails

came in seeking how they could get involved.

We were overwhelmed by the outpouring

and since then have worked to

help these fulfill their leading of the Holy Spirit.

On September 11th 2011 three ladies of our congregation

will deport for a medical mission to Haiti.

These ladies, Bronwen, Lisa, and Leigh are

registered nurses and moms with years of

experience. Between them they have eight

children, ages nine to fifteen. Then of

course there are the husbands. So you can

imagine how busy their lives are outside of

their passion for the people of Haiti and others

including their employment here in the states.

From now until September 7^th we are asking

for your help with this mission. Below is a brief

description of the mission field in Haiti.

If you can help with the supplies or wish to make

a monetary donation for the supplies you can

send them to Hillsboro UMC, Mission Haiti,

5313 Old Hwy 96, Franklin, TN 37064.

If you send a check please make it out to

HUMC and mark it “ for Mission Haiti –Spark

or (MHS.) A full accounting of all donations

will be kept and sent out if you need for IRS

purposes.

· Cortisone creams anti-itch cream

· Multivitamins for adults and

children’s vitamins

· Baby wipes

· Alcohol wipes,

· Hand sanitizer

· Large Band-Aids (Bandaid brand)

· Imodium chewable

· Gallon size baggies

· Lubricant eye drops

· Mucinex cough suppressant expectorant

· Wound care products

· We are in need of an otoscope approx.

$100 and a couple of blood pressure cuffs

· Toothpaste

· Toothbrushes

· Soap (bar)
